Reclaimed Canvases: Transformative Eco-Expression
My solo exhibition, Reclaimed Canvases: Transformative Eco-Expression, has now come to a close at The Outlet Gallery in Port Coquitlam. I’m deeply grateful for everyone who took the time to visit, connect, and spend a moment with this body of work.
This exhibition grew from the belief that art can emerge from what is often overlooked or discarded—transforming everyday materials into something with new life and meaning. Many of the pieces were created on reclaimed surfaces: cardboard, the backs of playing cards, and even pages taken from an old car repair manual. These unexpected supports, with their creases, stains, and histories, became integral collaborators in each painting.
Working with such materials allowed me to challenge the idea of what a “proper” canvas can be while also exploring cycles of renewal and reinvention. Each piece in the series became a dialogue between the marks that existed before me and the gestures I added—an exchange of memory, chance, and transformation.
Now that the show has wrapped, I’m reflecting on how Reclaimed Canvases became more than an exhibition. It evolved into a meditation on sustainability, resilience, and creativity—an invitation to see potential where others might see waste and to recognize the quiet stories carried beneath each surface.
Thank you to everyone who supported the work and shared in this experience.
I’m excited to share that the exhibition has now moved to Western Sky Books and Gallery, where it will be on display until January 11th, 2026.
